PROJECTS
Assignment #10 Music Video
For the final project in my Art II class, I had to find a music video and screenshot different parts in order to create a collage. The fun part of this project was using four different mediums. I used black paint, oil pastels, chalk, pencil and used paper to cut some of the shapes. Personally, I think that they all blended very well and the final piece turned out just as I had hoped. If I could have improved one thing, I would add more to the collage.

Assignment #9 Animal Eyes
This is another one of my favorite projects that I have done this year. We were instructed to focus more on the eyes of the animal(kitten). I used oil pastels for the eyes and chalk for the details of the kittens fur. Overall, I think that the depth between the two mediums worked very well. Also, the fur looks soft because of the lighter colors used.

Assignment #8 Reverse Drawing
This is a picture of my friend summer. Our next project was to learn how to sketch reverse portraits. Instead of using white paper we used black with white pencils. This challenged us how to really learn our shading from lights to dark and darks to light. At first, I was very skeptical as to how mine would turn out. My biggest challenge was learning how to use the white when I was used to shading with a darker pencil. I believe that I still need to improve, but like how the end product turned out.

Assignment #7 Famous Person
My Sketch is of Demi Lovato. Since I am new at sketching portraits, I used a sketch from another artist to help guide me through the picture. I think that this helped me because I was able to see step by step the different features of her face. Some parts I managed to change compared to the original sketch such as giving the nose more depth with darker shading. Overall, I am content with the finished product and   excited to keep practicing for my next sketch.

Assignment #6 Face Practice Exercises
In class, we have been practicing sketching different parts of the face such as eyes, nose, chin, ears along with other facial features. I was nervous because I did not think I would be good at them, but as I practiced more I slowly got better. I think that I was most successful at practicing sketching the nose.

Assignment #5 Perspective Abstract
My perspective abstract piece is of books using the color orange and pink. If I were to change something, I would have found the time to finish the books painting. I think that I did well when shading from light to dark in this project.

Assignment #4 Fall Still Life
So far, this is my favorite painting i've done this year. At first I was unsure about how to begin with the blending of warm colors, yet it turned out successful. I think that the corn pops out most in it because of the brighter colors used. Also I am content with the highlights that really bring out the characteristics in both pumpkins. I need to improve when it comes to matching the colors I used the day beforehand so that they blend well in my finished product.

Assignment #3 Monochromatic Color Wheel
This assignment was to practice painting using one base color and being able to go from light to dark. My color that I used was pink, and throughout the wheel, it shaded to a dark purple. One think I would have changed would be doing this project before beginning the Monochromatic painting.

Assignment #2 Monochromatic
For the base color of my painting I used red to make different shades of pink and purple. I took my time when sketching out the picture which helped me to completely fill the space of my picture. I also think that I did well blending the colors in the sky above the bridge along with the texture of the lines and shading I used. Lastly, the differing in values of light and dark pink was achieved well. I could have done better blending different shades of purple towards the bottom.

Assignment#1- Typography/Magazine Shading
What stands out most in my artwork is the actual drawing beforehand making it into a collage. At first I thought about graphing my paper in order to draw Leonardo square by square. I then decided to sketch the image just by looking at the picture itself and it turned out better than I had expected. In the end I believe this made my piece more successful because the final product showed important features in his facial structure. If I were to change one thing in this assignment due to being a struggle it would have been contrasting more between the light and dark sections such as the highlighting in his hair.
